A Great Salvation and Deliverance by God -Exodus 14
" ..let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians. For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians , than that we should die in the wilderness."
So said the people of Israel to Moses after leaving Egypt and being pursued by Pharaoh and 600 chariots.   The people were " sore afraid" , and they cried out to the LORD.  But what they cried was not very forward looking.  We should have just stayed in Egypt and served the Egyptians.
Do you ever feel as though you have had  your back to the wall and there is no rescue?  Have this ever happened? And our first reaction is that of the Israelites.  We think , " how did we get here?"  " We should have stayed where we were."  This is not what we call forward thinking , is it?
Loss causes this reaction in us.  At first we are in shock that this or that has happened to us.  Then we deny the situation.  This did not happen.  Then we get angry and look for ways to bargain our way out.  At last after fear comes acceptance and then we go back to the first stage all over again. Shock, denial, anger, bargaining .  What did I do wrong?  " Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away  to die in the wilderness?"
Moses said unto the people, " Fear ye not, stand still ( or stand your ground) and see the salvation of the LORD which He will show you to day." 14:13
In the middle of it, we are told to not to have fear.  " Fear ye not"  When our friends and our family members are no longer here with us and have gone to be with God, we have fear.  We are alone.  We are troubled.  We miss them for they were so important in our lives.  Isaiah 41 says to us , " But you ( Israel) are my servant, ( Jacob) whom I have chosen...my friend. ...Fear thou not. for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God...I I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness..."  And in Isaiah 43 we read, "..Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with thee...."
Just as God delivered Israel from the Egyptians , He will rescue us from the grave of death by the resurrection of His Son Jesus from the dead.  We pass through the waters and they are divided for all believers.  In heaven we cry no more.  All will be well in the eternal  presence of God and His angels and with those we love and those who love us .  " Fear not"
2.  In the middle of our difficulties and losses, Moses says, " Stand your ground."  The foes of God are around us. They are coming with a great army of temptations and testings and in the middle of this we are to not give way.  We are to hold the ground that has been purchased by the blood of Jesus , a " new and living way which He has consecrated for us." Hebrews 10:20  The people of God were to stand their ground in the midst of a great army of chariots of destruction." The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace." Ex 14:14 If we are right and in right then we are on God's side.
3.  " see the salvation of the LORD , which He will show you to day." 14:13  God says to Moses to tell the children of Israel to go forward and then he must lift " up (thy) rod and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it, and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea."  The angel of God went behind them, and the pillar of the cloud was darkness to the Egyptians. When Moses stretched out his hand again this time the Egyptians were covered in the sea. " THERE REMAINED NOT SO MUCH AS ONE OF THEM."  We too are saved through the precious blood of Christ, a lamb foreordained before the foundation of the world, without sin. I Peter 1:19  God does not lose one of His children.  NOT ONE.  NO NOT ONE is lost. " My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow me. and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." John 10:27
" Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians...and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses." Ex.14:31
God will bring His work of salvation to completion in our lives as well.  We are not lost if we have truly believed in Him and His Son Jesus.  we are " confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6
In the Exodus we have a great deliverance of the people of God from the hand of the Egyptians.  In Jesus we have a great salvation and deliverance from our own ways and sinful lives as we bear His cross daily.
FEAR NOT, Stand your ground, and you will see the salvation of the LORD.
