A CHRISTMAS QUESTION
a Child is born. A Son is Given. Isaiah 9" a Child"- a real human person with thoughts, emotion , and pain , just as you and I ----really human
a Son- Jesus Christ, God's eternal Son, " begotten of His Father from before all worlds, begotten----not made, being of the same substance with the Father."
1. Is it so? Yes, the child was born in our world and in our history. But is the child born to us? ----is He our Saviour? If so---that the Child wrapped in swaddling clothes in Bethlehem's manger is born to you, then you are born from above, born again.
FOR THIS CHILD IS NOT BORN TO YOU, UNLESS YOU ARE BORN TO THIS CHILD.
How can we know???
a. Has there been a change within you? Once your heart longed for sin now it longs to be holy and near to Christ and His blessed mother .
b. Change outside? Do others know it? " the proof of the Christian is in the living."- Charles Spurgeon
2. Is the Son given to us?
---let each one ask , is it true that a Son is given to us? If it is true that a Son is given unto you, then you are a Son yourself. John 1:12 " But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name."
Do you have a child's love to God? Do you trust Him as your Father, your provider and your friend? Galatians 4:6 " And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts...wherefore thou art no more servant , but a son; and if a son, than an heir of God through Christ."
3. Are you given to the Son?
---are you given up to Christ? Do you feel that you have nothing to live for but to glorify Him?
4. If it is so, why am I doubtful today?
Do not rest until you are content Christ is yours and that you are Christ's.
5. Why are we so sad?
What matters lack of money? Unto us a Child is Born
What matters your lack of good health? Unto us a Son is Given.
What matters your sin? For this Child shall take the sin away.
We need to confess our lack of holiness, need of God, give up hope of all self effort to win heaven, and go to the place where our Lord died in agony. Sit now at the feet of that Cross, and feel the dropping of the precious blood.
" A guilty, weak and helpless (worm) one, '
On Christ's kind arms I fall,
He is my Strength and righteousness, MY Jesus and MY all."
