Our Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd Sunday
What are we afraid of? What makes us cringe? Can we overcome our fears? My fear is really loneliness for God, and I need to claim His promise to never leave me or forsake me, no matter what. Even death cannot defeat my life that is held by Christ. He is risen, and He is alive evermore, and He gives to us eternal life here and forever.
" No one shall snatch them out of My hand" 10:28
" I give them eternal life"
" They shall never perish" ( Be removed, be destroyed, cut off, to die with ruin)
I can face my crippling fears.

All things work together for good for my good and God's glory...whatever happens God is in it. He is our Good Shepherd. He leads us beside the still waters. There is life after death, with God and His people forever.

Here I am to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever. This is my the goal of the Christian to let all things be in His hands.
Unfortunately we do not always feel this way. We are buffeted about many waves of loss, fear, despair and emotions that we cannot always control. God is there despite our fear and feeling.

This is a message for all of our life . Christ and God are one in their Divine Nature. I and my Father are one. Those who He spoke to then knew what He was saying and they took up stones to throw at Him.

His Eye is on the Sparrow, and He watches over me...
"His Eye Is on the Sparrow"
Jessi Colter
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come
Why should my heart fell lonely and long for Heaven and home
When Jesus is my portion, a constant friend is He
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches over me
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me
I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me, He watches me
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches
I know He watches, I know He watches me
I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free
His eye is on the sparrow and I know he watches me, He watches me
His eye is on the sparrow and I know he watches me, He watches me
He watches me, I never thought, He watches me"

I found this to be the case when I was at the nursing home, rehab the other day doing the Service. We sing the same songs every week, but they never get old. " I come to Garden Alone" SONG & MUSIC WRITER: C.Austin Miles

HYMN HISTORY: C. Austin Miles writes his own story on how the words were written to "In
the Garden." "One day in March, 1912, I was seated in the darkroom where I kept my photographic equipment and organ. I drew my Bible toward me; it opened at my favorite chapter, John 20 . . . That meeting of Jesus and Mary had lost none of its power to charm. As I read it that day, I seemed to be part of the scene. I became a silent witness to that dramatic moment in Mary's life, when she knelt before her Lord, and cried, "Rabboni!" . . . Under the
inspiration of this vision I wrote as quickly as the words could be formed the poem exactly as it has since appeared. That same evening I wrote the music."

BIBLE VERSE: John 18:1 – “When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.”

I wonder if we say to someone we are praying for them, " What does that mean?" We wish them well? We really and truly do in the power and spirit of Christ want the best for them, God's best. We cannot ask for anything better than that.
So on this Good Shepherd Sunday we look to the Good Shepherd for He leads us in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake, and we fear no evil. For thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff , they comfort me. My cup runneth over.
amen.
